Psychiatric Support for Children (8+) with Autism-Related Behaviors in Utah

Telehealth evaluation and medication management for children, teens, and families

Thoughtful, individualized care for complex behavioral and emotional needs

Children on the autism spectrum often experience challenges that extend beyond core developmental differences. Anxiety, emotional dysregulation, irritability, mood symptoms, sleep disturbance, and co-occurring ADHD can significantly affect daily functioning at home and school.

At Mindfully Fit Wellness & Psychiatry Services, we provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management for children and adolescents with autism-related behavioral and emotional concerns through secure telehealth across Utah.

Our approach is calm, collaborative, and evaluation-driven — focused on understanding the whole child, not rushing to quick solutions.

Who This Service Is For

This service may be a good fit for families seeking psychiatric support for a child or adolescent who:

  • Experiences emotional dysregulation, irritability, aggression, or frequent meltdowns

  • Struggles with anxiety, mood symptoms, sleep, or attention difficulties

  • Has not responded fully to behavioral or therapeutic interventions alone

  • Is already working with a therapist, ABA provider, or school team and needs psychiatric input

Care is provided for children and adolescents ages 8 and older.

What We Provide

Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation with attention to developmental history

  • Assessment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, and mood disorders

  • Thoughtful medication management when clinically appropriate

  • Ongoing follow-up focused on safety, tolerability, and functional improvement

  • Collaboration with therapists, behavioral providers, and families when helpful

Treatment recommendations are individualized and based on a full clinical evaluation.

Specific medications are not guaranteed, and treatment decisions are made during the visit — not beforehand.

Autism Diagnosis & Evaluation

We primarily provide psychiatric care for children and adolescents with an existing or suspected autism spectrum diagnosis, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and co-occurring mental health concerns.

For families seeking a formal autism diagnostic evaluation, we do not conduct diagnostic testing directly. However, we are happy to discuss concerns during the visit and provide referrals to appropriate specialists or centers for comprehensive autism evaluations when indicated.

This approach allows families to receive thoughtful psychiatric support while ensuring diagnostic assessments are completed through the most appropriate channels.

What We Do Not Provide

To ensure clarity and appropriate care, please note:

  • We do not provide ABA therapy or behavioral therapy

  • We do not replace school-based or behavioral interventions

  • We do not guarantee medication outcomes or specific prescriptions

  • We do not provide autism diagnostic testing

Our role is psychiatric evaluation and medical support as part of a broader care team.

How Telehealth Care Works

All visits are conducted via secure video for Utah residents. Telehealth allows families to access specialized psychiatric care without long wait times or travel burden, while maintaining privacy and continuity.

Initial visits focus on understanding your child’s history, current concerns, and treatment goals. Follow-up visits are scheduled as clinically appropriate.

We believe children and families benefit most from care that is:

  • Unrushed

  • Developmentally informed

  • Safety-focused

  • Respectful of neurodiversity

  • Integrated with existing supports

Our goal is not simply symptom reduction, but improved emotional regulation, daily functioning, and quality of life.
